February is National Hot Breakfast month!
This month was designated such to encourage us to take a little more time in the morning to make a hot breakfast, rather than just grabbing a bowl of cereal or a cold bagel.
Studies suggest that having a hot breakfast in the morning helps improve focus throughout the morning. Children also seem to do a better job of absorbing information at school when they’ve had a hot breakfast.
The Mayo Clinic says that a healthy breakfast consists of whole grains, lean protein, low-fat dairy, and fruits and vegetables. They suggest using at least three or four of those food groups to create a healthy breakfast that will keep you full all morning!
