February is also National Library Lovers Month!
The first free public library in the United States was in Peterborough, New Hampshire in 1833. Since then libraries have sprung up in towns and cities all over the country, becoming a staple of many of those communities. In the 2009 economic downturn, many libraries had budget shortfalls and many nearly closed.
Libraries are excellent sources of services that are not available online, like assistance in looking for obscure information or borrowing a book that is not available online. Local organizations use libraries for meetings, and many of them have community youth programs. They are an invaluable resource for the communities they are a part of, visit your local library today!
