August is Family Fun Month!

We can’t think of a better place to have fun than in our own backyard! Central Florida is an amazing place to call home. Why should the tourists have all the fun in our beautiful state?

Sand Lake Imaging cares about your family so we came up with some of our most favorite things to do and places to visit with our families. Of course, the beach and the theme parks are on just about everyone’s list, but if you’re looking for something a little less crowded and laid back, check out our ideas below.

Orlando Tree Trek Adventure Park

You can swing from a trapeze, a zip line, and challenge yourselves with other aerial obstacles. With 15 acres close to the Disney area, there’s bound to be something for everyone in your party. It’s also open 7 days a week, rain or shine!

Rainbow Springs State Park in Dunnellon

It is a beautiful spot for camping, tubing, swimming, hiking, and so many more fun family adventures. There is a snack stand, and a small gift shop. The park even boasts a waterfall! If you’re making this a day trip, plan to stay all day because the beauty of this park will make you never want to leave.

 Orlando Science Center

Another fun option is the Orlando Science Center. It’s a nice way to get out of the heat of summer, but also a fun way to learn a bit about the earth around us. Their exhibits change frequently so check their website before you go to see what exhibits and films are being featured. If you’ve never been to the Science Center, it should most definitely be on your list!

Common Ground Park in Lakeland

If it’s a playground you’re looking for, head to Common Ground Park in Lakeland, the area’s first inclusive playground for people with special needs. It is geared for all abilities and ages. There are many different playgrounds, areas to relax, and lots of beauty to take in. There is also plenty of shade and pavilions.

At this trailhead, there is also access to the Cross Florida Greenway’s extensive equestrian trail network. You can also access the Florida Scenic Hiking trail. There is so much to experience here!

Of course, there are hundreds of beaches and lakes in Florida as well. Take your pick! You really can’t go wrong because the beauty of Florida is that there are so many options for family fun.

Some other ideas for at-home fun:

  • Playing board games – Such a simple and fun way to connect with your family
  • A family “book club” – Each of you read a chapter of a chosen book aloud and then discuss is as a family
